More favorable trips for students

From October 1, monthly tickets for regular students are EUR 9.95 (HRK 74.97)

In the European Year of Youth, on the basis of the Conclusion of the Government of the Republic of Croatia from September 19, 2022, a pilot project of more affordable transport for regular students is being introduced, which enables unlimited use of rail transport for about 113,000 at a single monthly ticket price of EUR 9.95 (HRK 74.97). of regular students in the territory of the Republic of Croatia. The pilot project is implemented from October 1, 2022, to September 30, 2023.

The pilot project includes unlimited daily train trips from the place of residence to the place of study and occasional trips, such as day trips, trips to the doctor, summer vacations, and other trips, in the 2nd class of regular trains in the territory of the Republic of Croatia.

The implementation of the pilot project will contribute to increasing the mobility of students, stopping emigration to urban areas and supporting demographic revitalization, improving the standard of living of citizens, and encouraging the use of rail transport.

The implementation of this project, along with the investment cycle in the renovation of the railway infrastructure and the procurement of new trains, which are co-financed with funds from the EU funds, will have a positive effect on increasing the use and sustainability of railway transport, thus contributing to the reduction of the harmful effects of transport on the environment.

How to exercise the right to cheaper transport?

Full-time students obtain the right to more favorable transportation based on the HŽ Putnički prevešių smart card with the appropriate profiles.

Based on the profile for more favorable trips, it is possible to buy a monthly ticket in the amount of EUR 9.95 (HRK 74.97) and make daily trips from the place of residence to the place of study and other unlimited individual trips on any route on trains that run in the territory of the Republic of Croatia. Monthly tickets are bought at the ticket office. In the days until the purchase of a new subscription ticket, i.e. until the 5th of the month (inclusive), monthly tickets from the previous month can be used.

For individual journeys, a free ticket must be requested at the ticket office or from the conductor on the train (if the ticket office is not working) with the presentation of a smart card.

Students who have a smart card with a student profile from September 2022 do not need to make a new one, but with the existing card and the educational institution’s confirmation of the status of a regular student for the academic year 2022/2023. come to the ticket office where, with the issuance of a new profile free of charge, they will exercise the right to more favorable trips.
